Day 7 and 8 Oakville, ON

Saturday June 30th
Today we did a little shopping in the morning at Whole Foods Market where they had a live Reggae band playing (mostly white guys but they sounded authentic). They had a farmers market outdoors, and a fishmonger selling whole, fresh wild salmon.  Unfortunately because we will be spending a few days with family, then heading out to North Bay to spend the week with friends (Snow Birds from the Villages) we couldn’t take advantage of this great looking food.
The afternoon and evening were spent with Norm’s family at a surprise birthday party for his sister Thelma given by her daughter and son-in-law.  She was extremely overwhelmed seeing us and her sister Bernice, from Boston.  It’s always great getting together with Norm’s family.  They are such a crazy, fun bunch of people.
When we arrived back at the campsite at 11PM, we were amazed at how many small children were still up, running and screaming.  Not what we are used to.

Sunday July 1st _ Canada Day
Norm and I finally got a little exercise mountain biking through the park’s trail system. In the afternoon the whole family gathered at Norman’s sister Thelma’s house.  After several hours reminiscing about their childhood years, we all walked to a nearby park to listen to a local swing band during their Canada Day Celebration.
Alison doing what she loves most!

We left about 10PM and drove about an hour back to the campsite, enjoying three different city fireworks displays on the ride back. We could not believe the number of cars that were pulling over to the side of a major highway to watch fireworks!   I, on the other hand, took the much safer method and feasted on the site while driving!   Much safer, don’t you think?

Oh Canada!  Norm and his sisters
